Alton Clinton Sheffield, age 79, of Dahlonega died Friday January 15, 2010 at Chestatee Regional Hospital following an extended illness.
Born February 2, 1930 in Lumpkin County to the late James Cicero and Sudie Sheffield, Mr. Sheffield retired from the City of Dahlonega in 1995. He was preceded in death by son Terry Alton Sheffield.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Viola Sheffield; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Judy Sheffield, Jerry and Pam Sheffield; grandchildren; Chase and Amanda Sheffield Warren, William and Jennifer Sheffield Wade, John and Rebecca Sheffield Lee, Lacee Sheffield and Derek Sheffield; great-grandchildren, Ryan Sheffield Warren, Casey Warren, Madelyn Lee and Ella Grace Lee.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 3:30 pm at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega. Rev. J.R. Fields will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery in Dahlonega.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 pm Friday, January 15, 2010 at Banister Funeral home in Dahlonega.
